Endive Green Curled Ruffec

Botanical name: Cichorium endivia

Green Curled Ruffec is a classic heirloom endive, valued for its pleasantly bitter leaves. This plant has a low-lying growth habit and produces a large rosette of thick, deeply-cut leaves. The loose head has a creamy-white centre and light-green outer edges with a buttery, tender texture and a tasty bitter flavour, making them an excellent addition to a salad mix or as a garnish. It can be harvested in its entirety by cutting the stem at the base of the plant when it has reached its maturity, or by selectively picking the outer leaves during its growth period. This variety is resilient to both cold and wet weather, making it a great addition to the garden from autumn to spring.
